Matt Taibbi Gets Served... Maybe

Posted:Monday, October 6, 2008

Either Matt Taibbi is really, really stupid--and had his ass handed to him in this 9/11 Conspiracy Debate--or he is playing some sort of right-wing kook in order to provide a platform for David Ray Griffin to expound upon his 9/11 contradictions.

Matt wrote a couple of times (in a similarly idiotic and condescending tone) regarding the 9/11 Truth movement's arguments concerning what happened on 9/11 (latest can be viewed here). At the time, I thought he had just not wanted to read any of the information, and was just talking to hear his head rattle. You see, I've read David Ray Griffin's work, "The New Pearl Harbor" and it scared the shit out of me.

So when I saw that Alternet would be hosting a back and forth between these two, I was very interested to see how it would shake out.

I am at a loss.

I find it hard to believe that Matt is as stupid as he comes across in this piece. It is almost like he is acting or something in order to give Griffin more opportunities to illustrate just how uninformed we are with respects to what transpired on 9/11. Matt is so bad it is nearly comical.

So, with that in mind, I ask you to read the full exchange--it is VERY long (three parts with multiple pages in each part). Taibbi's sections are very hard to read because of the condescending and just simply unjustifiable disdain for Griffin's explanations. But Griffin is polite and thorough in his responses and, in my opinion, makes Matt look like a buffoon.

Read it for yourself, but be warned, if you accept the government's version of what transpired on 9/11, you will find what Griffin has to say very, VERY uncomfortable.

And please, if you do take issue with Griffin, don't fall into Matt's (seeming) missteps. Remember, Griffin is not purporting to have a plausible counter explanation--although he cites many that have been posited. Don't mistakenly do what Matt did and assume those explanations are what Griffin is trying to prove.

They aren't.

All that Griffin is trying to prove is that what the government has told us is untrue and that we need to investigate it more carefully if we hope to find the truth.
