Feds Drop Charges Against Ted Stevens

This is a rather confusing development. The article on CNN (linked below) states that, upon review, the DOJ's prosecutor has decided to not only drop all charges in this case, but also to not pursue a new trial.

This being said, we have to look at what this all means. First off, Stevens, whom I assume was a friend to Bush (he pretty much rubber stamped everything Bush said), was indicted and roasted in the public spotlight under Bush's administration. If the case were not air tight, why would they have pursued it so diligently?

The confusion this question generates is only compounded when you consider that it wasn't until now, when the new administration's Justice Department leaders have taken over that the case has been dismissed? Wait, what? Obama lets Stevens off where Bush wouldn't?

Something stinks in Denmark. Either this was a legitimate case and Stevens should be retried, or it was not and Bush is guilty of political assassination.

I mean, the indictment of Stevens wasn't initiated here in Alaska. Hell, the Alaska DOJ was specifically told to butt out. The Feds brought in their own investigators and had a grand jury seated in DC.

What gives? There is no way Ted can blame this on Democrats. So, who will he finger?
